Effects of Zn Exposure on Populus simonii Seedling Growth and Its Resistance to Leaf Rust

Heavy metals are serious pollutants that affect the growth and disease resistance of woody plants. Herein, enrichment characteristics an essential element (Zn) in Populus simonii seedlings, as well effects Zn stress on seedling to leaf rust, were investigated. contents roots, stems, leaves treatment groups significantly increased. at all concentrations inhibited biomass seedlings. Under low, middle, high treatments, compared with control group, CAT activity decreased by 36%, 21%, 14%; SOD 13%, 8%, 5%; PPO 27%, 31%, 47%; TI 48%, 55%, 61%, CI 10%, 20%, 14%, respectively. In natural environment, we accidentally discovered P. was infected increased rust index. The index correlated positively content negatively chemical defense indexes. Taken together, causes a strong toxicity reduced under increases susceptibility seedlings rust.
